EMBTRAG - Cooperation with the Katona József Theater

"People were like they are now 2,000 years ago.

Humanity has made itself what it is.

What time is it?”

(Imre Madách)

We thank you for the cooperation that, within the framework of the Katona József Színház, Lili Izsák, set and costume designer, honored us by choosing clothes and accessories for her very characterful costumes from us.

Madách In the tragedy of man, he invites you to a wide-ranging journey. He asks the questions that are as old as humanity, and sometimes he finds uplifting and sometimes despairing thoughts as answers. We also want an answer, we want to know why we are struggling, but we suspect that we can never state the great Connection as a single precisely formulated statement. We try and fail, until our lives come to an unexpected end on an average Wednesday afternoon. Adam and Eve are led on the path by Lucifer, sharing knowledge with them, but the deceptive concepts of "truth" and "reality" fall apart around them again and again. My co-creators and I were motivated by reading our national drama as a contemporary text to create a performance in which we do not bow down to Madách's linguistic and dramaturgical feats, but allow ourselves to associate, juxtapose, enlarge, and reframe themes with his help, and instead of listing historical tableaus, we are looking for the stations and defining situations of human life. In other words, we invite those who are concerned with similar questions to a new journey.
