There are many special days in a year that are underappreciated and World Pizza Day, on the 9. of February is one of them. To honor this popular dish, we have collected all our pizza-themed products so you can celebrate this heavenly food they way it should be celebrated every year!

Pizza exists ever since the middle ages, the word can be found in Italian literature dating back to 997. Back then it simply meant flatbread bakermen used for checking the temperature of the furnace. Later, to avoid food waste pizza was born.

The way we know it today was first created in Naples by Rafaelle Esposíto. He opened his bakery in 1780, and its still exists today. In the 18th century, the Italian Royal couple (King Umerto I and Queen Margherita di Savoia) visited Naples, and Esposíto prepared a special meal just for them. It was a pizza topped with ingedients of the colors of the Italian flag: red (tomatoes), white (mozzarella) and green (basil). He named it after the queen, and this particular variation of toppings is still called Margherita and remained one of the most popular of all versions. 

In the 19th century Italian immigrants took their beloved recipe with them to America and that is where it began to take over the world from the 1950's.
